Birch is a feminine tree and an embodiment of the Great Mother. Cradles are often made of her wood as a protection for the child. Since birch is sacred to Thor, it is best to take the bark after the tree has been “kissed” by Thor, that is, it’s been hit by lightning. A circular grove of oak trees is among the most magickal of sites.

How to use magickal Birch Leaves Herb:

  • Burn over charcoal to add to your rituals.
  • Place on altar with your candle.
  • Roll candle on herbs and burn candle.
  • Add to altar.
  • Add to sacred baths and natural beauty products.
  • Sew into charms, spell bags, dream pillows, and sachets.
  • Offer to deities, spirits and Fae.
  • Create your own elixirs and blends.

Medicinal: Some people take birch along with lots of fluids for “irrigation therapy” to flush out the urinary tract. Other uses include treating arthritis, achy joints (rheumatism), loss of hair, and skin rashes. Birch is also used in “Spring cures” for “purifying the blood.”

Medicinal Preparation:

  • Herbal leaves or flowers: 1 tsp per cup of boiling water. Allow to infuse for 10 min. Strain and drink.
  • Herbal powders: 1 tsp per cup of boiling water
  • Seeds, bark, roots, stems, berries: 20 gr per 500ml of boiling water. Strain and drink.
