Donate to the animal sanctuary
Over the past few years several animals were brought to us after they were either rescued or needed a new home urgently. Some have come to us as day old’s and some needed a new home urgently. We are not registered as a NPO. So, the sanctuary is fully funded from the proceeds of the shop. Donations are NOT tax deductible. Donations of food, bedding, medication etc. are also welcome.
International donations from those who are located outside of South Africa can be done via credit/cheque cards or masterpass – please email us at info@gemsforhealing.co.za with the amount you would like to donate and we will send you a secure payfast payment link.
Some of the residents include:
- Fudge, Caramel and Miracle are the donkeys currently living on the property. Caramel and Miracle joined us after Chocolate passed away, to serve as a companions to Fudge. Our Chocolate donkey suffered a severe jaw injury when he started teething and unfortunately after 7 surgeries he passed away. Miracle was sent to us as a “male”, and when she got here we realized that he was a she … hence the name Miracle.
- The geese came to us over a period of 3 years. Some of them was brought to us after their parents were killed by a badger leaving them orphans at a few days old.
- We also have 3 Ethiopian goats. The goats originally joined us with Fudge and Chocolate as the owner could not keep them anymore.
- Peacocks and chickens. You will often find a orphaned peachick, duckling, or gosling or even chick in the shop.
- Ducks. The whistling ducks were rescued by neighborhood kids when they were about a week old and brought to us to raise. He has a malformed lower beak.
- We have several dogs which have been rescued from abusive owners.
- We have between 15 – 18 rescued cats in residence per year. Donate To Cat Sanctuary
- We have even rescued a yellow billed kite after he had been hit by a car, and he was released a few weeks later.
Any donations are welcome. We are not registered as a NPO, so your donations is not tax deductible, but will be used for food, medication, veterinary bills, flea treatments, deworming, cat litter etc. You are welcome to donate to the animal sanctuary by sending food, blankets etc for the animals.
