Magic: A focusing herb, used to focus the power of other herbs it is combined with. Also used as a “love herb”. The orris root has long been used to find and hold love. The whole orris root is carried; the powder is added to sachets, sprinkled on sheets, clothing and the body as well as around the house. Orris root powder is sometimes known as “Love Drawing Powder”. Use for: Divination; protection; psychic awareness.
How to use magickal herbs:
- Burn over charcoal to add to your rituals.

Medicinal: Orris root is used for “blood-purifying,” “gland-stimulating,” increasing kidney activity, stimulating appetite and digestion, and increasing bile flow. It is also used for headache, toothache, muscle and joint pain, migraine, constipation, bloating, diabetes, and skin diseases.
Medicinal Preparation:
- Herbal leaves or flowers: 1 tsp per cup of boiling water. Allow to infuse for 10 min. Strain and drink.
- Herbal powders: 1 tsp per cup of boiling water
- Seeds, bark, roots, stems, berries: 20 gr per 500ml of boiling water. Strain and drink.
