Plumbago

Magic:  dispel bad dreams. A stick of the plant is placed in the thatch of huts to ward off lightning. Used as protective charms against evil and lightning and for ‘confounding of the enemy’. Shangaans tie bundles of Plumbago twigs and push them into the eaves of their houses or tie them in the roof to protect against lightning and to ward off evil. Hope, good wishes, spiritual desires.

How to use magickal  plumbago herbs:

  • Roll candle on herbs and burn candle.

Medicinal: Powdered roots or the dried leaves are taken as snuff to relieve headaches. Powdered roots are used on warts and as snuff by the Xhosa.
