Roman Glass jewelry is artisan handmade from ancient glass unearthed from Roman ruled areas around 2000 years ago. One of the prime sources of Roman Glass is Israel. Its climate and earth makeup make it an excellent environment for preserving the beautiful and colored glass.
The Romans created several types of glass objects from everyday dinnerware to unique vessels. Perhaps the most interesting are the ”tear bottles” or lachrymatory. According to legend, these small glass vessels were symbolic and stored the tears of mourners who lost a loved one. Only fragments of this glass is found in jewelry pieces now.
